Lily Allen is a lady i just can't figure out. For one minute i assume she is a spoilt brat, living in this make believe world of how she can just ditch the career that projected her in to becoming one of the best selling female artists, to become a lady of leisure in the country, to just jacking that idea entirely for the life of fashion designer. Whilst Lily strikes me as a very clever young lady indeed, she is clearly well aware of the dubious career of a pop-star, the best always die young or eventually become media spectacled car crashes. And surely following another passion, the world of fashion, is admittedly brave and admirable but the question is, is will Miss Allen be any good at it?
Fronting the latest Chanel line, buddying up with Karl and having access to all the double C's she likes surely has its perks, but chatting fashion and creating fashion are two very different games indeed. Following her documentary on Chanel 4 'Rags to Riches' it was pretty obvious she didn't have a bloody clue, it was her sister Sarah, the un-sung hero in my eyes that truly made Lucy in Disguise, her upmarket vintage retail haven. Since opening, Lucy in Disguise has ever so slightly fallen under the radar, apart from a few fangirls and the odd intrigued fashionista - who really needs an upmarket vintage when Beyond Retro is a damn sight lot cheaper and housed on the great Brick Lane. It was only until Lily and Sarah both released a statement saying that they were creating their own vintage inspired fashion line did i really get interested in Lucy in Disguise.
The Lucy in Disguise debut collection is made up of 18 vintage inspired pieces, centred around Lucy's journey through the several fashion eras and decades..
The first dress reminds me Cath Kidston cowboy print, awkward, however the smokin' hot red jumpsuit, and pattered tea dresses are the true winners of the collection, likewise the navy bejewelled jumpsuit Sarah modelled on opening night, what fabulous piece!

Lucy in Disguise's first collection will be available online or within Harvey Nicks from June 6th, from a pricey £110 to the eyewatering £396, personally i'd rather save my pennies for real vintage. But good on Miss Allen and her sister Sarah, not bad for a first collection, lets hope it isn't a one off wonder.
