Nails Growing

I'm the first to admit it and i know its seriously horrendous, but i'm a nail biter. Dear lord, i've tried all sorts to combat it - but nada. Fowl tasting lotions & potions, i'm still a nibbler. But, when Models Own recently had their 50% off sale online (off which i completely missed as i tried to place it ten whole minutes after the deadline - pah), i felt sorry for myself and ordered Pink Fizz anyway. Three weeks later after repeatedly applying over Ciate's Guestlist, i have a full set of nicely grown, but neatly short nails - hurrah! Clearly long nails triumphed over having a right gob full of pink glitter, gross but true.

Birthday

As much as the thought of turning twenty two horrifies me (i swear i've only bee 21 ten minutes and really, what a boring age to be) i'm utterly excited at the prospect of a drawn out week of birthday celebrations. It's sad to think that this time last year i was off to Paris, but i've eagerly booked a mini-break (a night) in Brighton with the boy, basically so i can scoff those hot yummy doughnuts on the pier and scour the lanes for hidden shopping gems. Not forgetting a night of bad dancing, strong cocktails and 80's tunes with my close friends.

London Fashion Weekend

Some-how, some-where, theres an almightily fairy god mother dishing me out some serious luck. Just after winning a Kindle, i managed to nab some London Fashion Weekend tickets and a few goodies from Debenams from one of their beauty twitter comps! They do say, you can't win a competition if you don't enter, and i'm a serial competition enterer. But i'm pretty clueless to London Fashion Weekend, some one care to enlighten me? Any tips?

Being a Graduate

Currently i'm practically working full-time at my part-time retail job, i've found a few vacancies in PR and Publishing, but really, there's not much out there in the magazine world. I'm a firm believer in waiting for the right job to crop up rather that taking anything that swings your way. I'm perfectly happy plodding along serving my grannies till i see the right position.

Birthday

Did i mention i'm turning 22? Twenty Two? Before you know it you turn 23, then twenty-five when every one expects you to flounce up the alise, then flirty thirty when people eye up your womb expecting babies left right and centre, don't get me start on the middle-age hot flushes, then your retired and the only thing your life revolves around is WI and baking. Well if that isn't depressing, who knows what is.

Holiday

With only a month to go before i jet off on holiday to Cuba, i had a complete utter melt down when it came to changing my a/w winter wardrobe to my summer wardrobe (does anybody else do this - or do i really own too many clothes?) i realised had no holiday clothes to speak off apart from a rather dusty faded bikini. Clearly last year i didn't buy any summer clothes, i must have been seriously miffed at not going away. Though in recents weeks after a few sneaky orders online and a few Primark dashes for inexpensive beach dresses, i've picked up a few things..

New Look Red Courts (£19.99) - Oh yes, i bought them!

Also starting to pen my duty free list, yes thats right, you heard correct. I'm well aware that its not that much cheaper to buy fragrances in Duty Free but what the heck i'll be in holiday mode, i have my sights set on..

Balenciaga perfume - After spritzing every perfume possible in House of Fraser last week, my nose literally couldn't distinguish between the scents. I will also take this moment to publicly print my apology to the lady sitting next to me on Southern Rail train that afternoon, i was my very own personal perfume cloud and you sneezed quite a few times, sorry. Then after sniffing the fifty thousand fragrance cards when i returned home, the Balenciaga perfume was an instant hit, its very sheer yet punchy floral scent with a hint of violet, lovely.

Chanel Coco Shine Lipsticks in Boy and Evasion, they are both very pretty coral and pale pink, perfect.

Film/Book/Television

I adore Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Shaun of the Dead is my favourite all time film, and yes, i annoying know all the words. When Paul came out i rushed to the cinema to watch (with six other boys may i add) and was not disappointed, neither did i miss all the Star Wars references. Geek and proud.

Crime thrillers are my firm favourite reading material, i don't do chick lit i'm afraid, ghastly. Since reading and throughly enjoying the Stieg Larsons trilogy The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last summer, i have since been reading Jo Nesbo series most notably The Snowman. This Swedish author is strikingly similar to Larson, with his thriller resolving around Harry Hole, i've ordered his entire series for my holiday.

Like most of the nation i'm currently hooked on The Apprentice, and even more so this week where the teams have to create a free premium magazine with the help of ShortList Media, who both publish Stylist and ShortList. Of where i both interned last summer and interviewed the director Mike for my dissertation, exciting on one hand, but i can predict a fare few angry tweets this evening... maybe i should have sent them my dissertation prior to the task eh?

Topshop

As much as i express my underlying love for Topshop, these past two months i have been seriously horrified with their customer service. I've tried on three occasions to order this blouse, but have been sent the wrong item, their customer service has been completely unhelpful and a tad creepy - they saw a tweet of mine online and somehow stalked down my telephone number. I have contacted them numerous times to alert them of this issue, but they fail to change it or assure me it's safe to re-order. I have sent a rather demanding angry email yesterday on arrival of the third wrong blouse, so watch this space. Not impressed.

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Face Wash

I bought this cleanser to tide me over at the end of the month before payday, and how disappointed i am. On paper it promises to be the perfect cleanser, it smells scrummy too, but it completely fails to do the job in hand. It neither lathers well, and i was even more horrified to see after toning it hadn't removed all traces of my make-up in the slightest. Irritating.

Bit of a ramble to say the least, but i always have to much to share! I also get my university results tomorrow, three words: shitting it frankly. If i goes according to plan, i shall be getting rather merry & if not so well, well, i'll be a hermit for a while. Fingers crossed.

Voucher Codes Party

On Tuesday evening, myself and two of my lovely friends went to a bloggers party hosted by Voucher Codes. Aside from the millions of cupcakes we devoured, and cocktails drunk, we thoroughly abused the photo booth available!

So having one of these at my wedding - Sarah and Daniella.

We then watched Marie Antoinette, which i have never seen before - but i can't stop obsessing over it. The soundtrack is freeking amazing.

Perfect reading material for a Sunday evening.

Vogue with Rosie Huntington Whitley, new girl crush alert.

And Tatler with Ed Westwick (need i say more) and Felicity Jones, one of my favourite British actresses.

NARS at ASOS

When Laura tweeted about NARS on the ASOS website, i nearly wet myself. ASOS and i hold a rather turbulent love/hate relationship; but i think their beauty section is bloomin' amazing, especially their epic beauty sales and super saver delivery. So i hopped right over there, and have made a rather long, arm-length wish list. With the 20% student discount they are offering at the moment, i can already feel my purse burning!

The nail varnish in Orgasm is already in the post to me, roll on pay day!

Valentines Day Palaver

This is my major rant of the week, and with another complaint email written. In the run up to Valentines Day i purchased this personalised Love Hearts hamper full of retro sweets for the boy. I couldn't believe my luck when the website stated that it was suitable for vegetarians (veggies will know how hard it is to buy sweets), so i promptly ordered. Two days later, it arrived.

I checked to see what was included sweet wise, to see that each sweet contained Gelatin (which derives from animal bone) aka clearly not veggie friendly. Queue lots of swearing and angry faces later, i pinged off a pissed off email. They removed the statement but not to my email.. watch this space.

I demanded a full refund, and am currently forcing myself not to eat a Dib Dab.

Any veggie friendly sweet recommendations? The Haribo veggie version is actually like eating candle wax. Yuck. What have you been listening full stop? Apart from Etta James, its been Drake for me. Obsessed i tell you.

Birthday

This time next week i shall be twenty one years of age, and not forgetting in Paris!

Despite the fact i'm super excited, i still have so much to do, sorting out maps, metro lines and packing - oh and making sure that the boy actually has a suitcase!

My lovely friends Sarah and Liz also took me to the theatre for my birthday surprise on Wednesday night to see Clybourne Park, which starred Martin Freeman (my all time geek crush), it was such a great play and a such an amazing present idea. And i'm off to spend a good four hours aimlessly wandering around Blue Water tomorrow in a bid to find a birthday present from the boy.

Stylist Magazine

I'm back! The Features Editor Alix asked if i (specifically) could come back in this week so i could help plan for the new year! I certainly feel very glad to be asked back, not only did i have a whirl - but what a compliment! I'll be in the office in Tuesday and Wednesday, compiling lists and planners of events, new releases of books, films, music and conversing with PRs to see what's happening. Basically i get to put my organisational skills in to overdrive, and give them a massive hand in future planning.

Being a Student

As my last year as a student, i fully intend to burn my NUS card to the ground. Heaven knows how i will cope without that added little luxury of 10% off in Topshop. If you have recently graduated or are not a student - i advise you to skip the following paragraph.

River Island and Toppers are hosting some fabulous Student Nights, with 20% off in-store, which is pretty useful if you have your eye on a great pair of winter boots or coat. I will definitely be stopping by the Oxford Street branches to have a nose! (a rummage).

Also, ASOS who left the student discount bandwagon last year and jumped back on. They are currently offering 20% off for the time being, yet they will still offer 10% off year round. Perfect with their Super Saver Delivery.

Winning Competition

My brother is so lucky, every competition going he seems to win, or just finding that odd ten pound note flying around on the pavement. Unfortunately, i can't say that family gene has ever passed over to me. But Saturday night i was casually reading my FB news feed, and i was delighted to see that i had won a fifty pounds voucher for Accessories Online!

I had been aware of this website for quite a long time, often having a good look at the Dogeared necklaces, toying on purchasing. I also became a fan of their FB page a while back, and incidentally i was picked at random in this prize draw!

I'm also delighted to see that they also stock Alex Monroe, so i definitely think one of his adorable necklaces will be on their way to me!

The Student's Life

Soon enough i will be starting my final year at university, major scary times. Yet i'm eager to get back into the swing of things, having a routined time-table and not to mention student loan ;) - but seriously after my stint at Stylist, i really see my self in this crazy world of magazine publishing. But before i even start planning out my ambitions and mapping my glamorous career, i've got a twelve thousand word + dissertation to write.. However nothing beats having a good spree in Paperchase, of course I'm not going to get this degree if i don't have the prettiest stationary, right?

21st Birthday.

It's now only a little under three weeks until i turn twenty one, which is pretty freeking crazy - but trust me, age is just a number (hah!). I'm very lucky to say that i have finally booked my stay in Paris for me and my boy, where i plan to visit all the great landmarks, hitting up The Lourve for a good gawp at the Mona Lisa and not forgetting the Eiffel Tower (and Sephora and the Chanel store).

Surprise Surprise

I bloody hate surprises, some people love them, i hate them. I think this derives from the fact that i'm so blunt, that if i don't like anything by the meerest twitch of my eyebrow everybody knows about it. Which, why at birthdays and Christmas, and even Valentines day, i have to write a wishlist for the boy of what i would like. Poor boy - he really doesn't have the faintest, but come to think if it, neither do i? What do i want for my birthday? Something special or lots of little things?

London Fashion Week

I'm not there, yeah so? The day i go is when the time is right, i.e when they send me a hand written note from the designer requesting my presence. (This is a bitter lie by the way).

I love embellished/large/over the top head bands. I'm evoking my inner Blair Wardorf, and i kinda like it.

You know what's bad? Finding a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag tucked away that you forgot about. Sicking, should i have published that? (Sorry Marc if you ever read this) I slogged my guts out at my part time job over a summer, two years back to buy this bag. I love the gold details and the cream leather, this is my summer bag - i definitely won't be forgetting this treasure any time soon.

I have been waiting all week by my letterbox for the latest issue of Glamour. I heart Glamour, i have subscribed for what feels like a million years - i have the old copies piled high to prove it! It's such a cliche love, but it is the one magazine that i read cover to cover, its happy, girly, romantic and preppy. We all know i'm a little bit odd when it comes to the magazine world but its pretty amazing, that month after month i still make time to read this cover to cover.

InStyle - June Issue

This issue of InStyle has the fantastic free gift of a Nails Inc. nail varnish. They are giving away three shades Candy (a baby pink), Mink (think beige) and Beach (a coral red). Usually they are quite naff to apply, but these were surprisingly quite good formulas.

Of course i set out to buy all three ;) but sweet, its all the name of research of my studies! I made a mad dash to Elephant & Castle WHSmiths on route to uni, to grab a shade of Mink, which reminds me of the new limited edition Chanel shade Particuliere. I bypassed the Candy shade, as i have about 15 other versions of baby pink in my varnish collection.
