Birthday Dresses!

Sunday, October 4, 2009
This time next week, i will be twenty years of age, which is bloody scary considering how time passes so quickly. After admitting to myself that i will no longer be a teenager any more, i have decided that from now on i will be a fabulous, twenty-something girl who has a life-full of ambition and adventure in her. (What can i say? i am a very optimistic person.)

This includes a set of promises to myself to fulfill this year, i plan to intern everywhere and anywhere that will have me in fashion, pr and publishing, no longer buy impulse beauty or fashion purchases only buying good quality styles, fits and shades that will suit me, learn the oh la la french language and cleanse, tone and moisturise each night. Well, i'll try to atleast.

In the mean time, i have to try and find the perfect birthday dress. This has proved quite hard as although i have been looking out for the past few months, the French Connection dress i lusted after looked absolutely horrific on, best left on the hanger.

After a quick mad dash around Oxford St. last week, i only found this top contender, a gorgeous navy, silk dress in Topshop by Christopher Kane that i've had my eye on for a while. And, after trawling through most online sites, i also found a sleek, cream lace shift dress on ASOS that proves quite promising. However, i'm still very undecided. :/

Navy Embellished Dress - Christopher Kane for Topshop (£125.00)

I love this dress. I love everything about it. I adore the colour navy, i love the embellishments, the cut, the material and overall i just feel confident and glamourous wearing it. And to know that i would own a Christopher Kane dress makes it a little bit more special.

The cut of this dress is the main highlight of this dress, the wavy hem is flirty and very feminine and the neck line and chest style is perfect for someone with a smaller bust (me) and ideal for not showing to much flesh, especially as it's quite short. The sleeves shape make the dress not to formal, which balances out the pretty, intricate embellishment. I would defiantly wear this again and again, as its not to over the top.

(Plus i can buy this next Tuesday at the Student Night at Topshop with 20% discount, added bonus!)

ASOS Lace Dress - ASOS (£40.00)

This dress is so plain and simple, its really calling out for some killer heels, a golden tan and a statement clutch. The shift shape of this dresses really flatters any body type, and the three quater length lace sleeve is really pretty. Although the dress is quite plain, i would defiantly acessorise the dress to give more detail. What i also love about this dress is that i could wear it with thick black tights over christmas, for a very chic monochrome look. Although, i have never ordered clothing from ASOS before and usually i'm quite reluctant to buy without trying first.

What are you thoughts on either dress? And your views on ASOS products, yay or nay?
